The mission of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. is to empower women, uplift communities, and pursue excellence in all endeavors. Click on the photo for highlights.

Early in 1929, Mrs. Lola Mercedes Parker of Chicago, Illinois, was stimulated by the need and a great vision of an organization which would offset the results caused by the Great Depression. Many black women who were working at comparatively new skills in white-collar jobs in the business field were doubly penalized by race and sex. Mrs. Parker called together six friends to discuss a plan for establishing an organization that would add prestige to the field of business and to those women who had chosen business as a career.

Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., founded in 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, is a national business and professional women’s organization which strives to:

Unite in sisterhood qualified business and professional women in order to enhance and improve the status of women in our highly complex, competitive business and professional world;

Promote increased interest in the broad field of business education among high school and college young women through planned programs and scholarships;

Encourage the development of personal goals and leadership potential; and

Establish and promote civic and social service activities for youth and adults.

Greetings and welcome to the official online home of the Far Western Region of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc.

It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as the 23rd Regional Director, and I am excited to share the rich legacy, dynamic service, and powerful impact of this extraordinary region with you.

While we may be one of the smaller regions within our beloved sisterhood, the Far Western Region stands tall in spirit, strength, and service. With more than 100 devoted and passionate members, we continue to uphold the vision of our Founder through unwavering dedication to sisterhood, service, and scholarship.

We take great pride in our commitment to education, having awarded over $70,000 in scholarships to deserving students. These investments are shaping the futures of emerging leaders, innovators, and community builders. Our work extends across a wide spectrum from youth mentorship and career development to financial literacy and civic engagement each initiative rooted in our shared values of excellence, empowerment, and equity.
